European Parliament – Press Release – #DigitalTransition #SustainableActivities
25 November 2020
The European Parliament advocates a shift of the EU’s approach to industrial policy, to help businesses cope with the crisis due to the COVID-19 and face the digital and environmental transitions.
The new strategy is expected to have a first phase focusing on the recovery, followed by a second phase of reconstruction and industrial transformation. Its purpose is to help the EU achieve climate-neutrality, deliver on the European Green Deal, manage the twin Green and Digital Transitions.
As part of the first phase, the Covid-19 Recovery Fund should be distributed according to the level of damage suffered, challenges faced and amount of financial support already received through national aid schemes.
In this regard, preference is expected to be given to companies oriented towards a Green and Digital transformation and thererfore investing in environmentally sustainable activities.
